Dr. Mohab Anis holds a Ph.D. in Computer Engineering from the University of Waterloo (2002), an MBA from Wilfrid Laurier University with a concentration in Innovation and Entrepreneurship (2008), and a Masters in Management Sciences with a concentration in Technological Innovation (2008). He is currently a professor of Engineering at the American University in Cairo (AUC)and founder of INNOVETY, an innovation management consulting firm and affiliate of the Boston-based IXL-Center.
Dr. Anis strives to help companies build new business concepts and has consulted widely in the areas of innovation strategy, capacity, and discipline. This includes auditing businesses’ innovation capabilities, idea generation and management, and technology forecasting. He also worked with government and donor agencies on developing policies and strategies that foster innovation and entrepreneurship at the national and sectorial levels. Moreover, Dr. Anis is a certified consultant of A.T.Kearney’s House of Innovation and has delivered numerous keynotes and workshops in the areas of innovation management.
Earlier in his career, Dr. Anis spent years as a tenured professor of Computer Engineering at the University of Waterloo, Canada, during which he also served as a consultant to a variety of Fortune 500 companies in the US and Canada. He was also involved with Waterloo’s technology transfer office, where he worked on identifying technologies that have the highest potential for commercialization.
As an academic, he authored 150 international papers and 3 books. He is on the editorial board of 9 international journals and has supervised 15 Ph.D.and 14 Master students. Dr. Anis was awarded three of Canada’s highest awards for excellence in innovation (The Early Research Award from Ontario’s Ministry of Research and Innovation, the Colton Medal for Research Excellence and the IEEE International Design Award), as well as both of AUC’s top Teaching and Creative Endeavors Awards (he was only the second in the history of AUC to be awarded both).
