Dr. Sherif Mourad obtained his Ph.D. in Engineering from the University of California, Irvine (1990), his MSc. in Structural Engineering from Cairo University (1987), and his BSc. in Civil Engineering, also from Cairo University (1984). Dr. Mourad has vast teaching experience in structural design, with an emphasis on seismic design philosophy, theory, and applications, as well as structural restoration of historical buildings and monuments. He has published more than 100 technical papers in international and local journals and conferences and is currently a Professor of Steel Structures and Bridges, Structural Engineering Department, Faculty of Engineering, Cairo University. Dr. Mourad was also the recipient of the State Award for Research in Engineering Sciences in 2002.
