Dr. Tamer El-Raghy holds a Ph.D. in Materials Engineering from Drexel University, Philadelphia, and an MBA in Finance from NYU Stern School of Business, New York. He has over 20 years of experience in innovation, business development, M&A and venture capital in the USA, Europe, the Middle East and Africa. He is currently managing Cargill Animal Feed & Nutrition growth in Africa, including M&A and Greenfield investment activities as well as developing the company’s strategy in the region. Prior to joining Cargill, he was a business development consultant with a focus on SMEs, where he served as strategic planning and sell side advisor. He also worked with Lux Capital, an early stage venture capital fund in NYC that is focused on nanotechnology enabled devises in both physical and life science spaces.
Dr. El-Raghy had started his career as a materials engineer, where he invented a new class of materials and founded 3-ONE-2, a JV with Sandvik AB (Sweden), that commercialized the technology for both defense and civilian applications. He holds 9 patents and his work was published in leading journals including Nature and Science. His research has been cited over 5,000 times. As a result, he’s recently received Misr El Kheir Foundation’s award for the most cited researcher living and working in Egypt.
