The Social Innovation Carnival is the beginning of many events to be launched by the newly-established Egyptian Social Innovation Cluster, whose story goes back to 2 years ago, specifically in 2014 when a grant was received from the EU – RDI Program (Research, Development and Innovation Program) to form and lead the Social Innovation Cluster project. The cluster was founded by 7 partners (Misr El Kheir Foundation – through its program GESR, ECASTI, The German University in Cairo (GUC), Assiut University, Hubconcepts Inc., bidX, TICO Azhar University), each of them plays a major role in developing, managing, and sustaining the cluster with the aim of empowering the Bottom of the Pyramid (BOP) through social innovation and entrepreneurship. This project is currently working towards a sustainable Egyptian social innovation cluster that will also include the leading NGOs supporting social innovation (Ashoka, AYB, and Nahdet El Mahrousa) beside the current consortium, to promote social innovation by knowledge sharing, education and advocacy.
Stay tuned for a series of more events, activities, and initiatives!
